Panthers sign LB Devin Lloyd to three-year contract

The Carolina Panthers have come to terms on a contract with linebacker Devin Lloyd of Kansas City, Missouri according to Darin Gantt of panthers.com. Lloyd’s contract is three years and $45 million according to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Guaranteed portion of the contract

There is a guaranteed element of the contract. Of the $45 million that Lloyd is set to earn over the next three years, $25 million will be guaranteed.

Who has Lloyd played for in the past?

Lloyd has been in the National Football League for the last four seasons. In that time, he has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Considered the third top free agent on the Big Lead Board

On February 16, Angel Atienza-Romero rated the top free agents available in 2026 National Football League free agency. Lloyd was listed as third, only behind wide receiver George Pickens and quarterback Daniel Jones.

Pro Bowl season in 2025

This past season with the Jaguars, Lloyd played in 15 games and was selected to the Pro Bowl. He had 81 combined tackles (46 assisted tackles and 35 solo tackles), six tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hits, five interceptions for 135 yards, one pick six, seven pass deflections, one fumble recovery for two yards and 1.5 sacks.

On October 6, in a memorable 31-28 Jaguars win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Lloyd had a 99 yard interception return for a touchdown. It was the longest pick six in the 2025 National Football League regular season.

The pick six just so happened to come off of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Lloyd recorded the touchdown against the team that was based from his hometown. At the time, the Jaguars took a 21-14 lead with two minutes and 19 seconds left in the first half.
