Justin Rose returned to winning ways at the Farmers Insurance Open last weekend.
The Englishman broke several scoring records at Torrey Pines in a dominant performance from start to finish.
He has since moved up to third in the Official World Golf Ranking, behind only Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
Golf expert Rex Hoggard was so impressed with Rose’s recent form that he compared him to LeBron James.
Justin Rose and LeBron James have something in common
Sports fans will know that athletes are rarely in top form in their forties, but Rose (45) and James (41) are two exceptions to the rule.
Of course, basketball is more physically taxing than golf, but Hoggard made a fair comparison between the pair’s commitment to longevity.
“He has invested so much into making sure that his body is in top physical form,” Hoggard said after Rose’s win at the Farmers Insurance Open.
“I immediately thought of everything that we hear LeBron James does to make sure that he’s at peak physical form at 40-plus years old to play in the NBA.
“It’s a wildly different scenario, I understand that, but LeBron James supposedly spends millions of dollars every year to make sure everything he puts into his body and everything he does for his body keeps him in top physical shape. And I think Justin Rose would be the comparison.”
The attention will now turn to what Rose can achieve in the remainder of the 2026 PGA Tour season.
Justin Rose must be a contender to win The Masters
Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open will give him confidence in achieving even more success this year.
The 45-year-old could contend at all four major championships, but he will be particularly excited for The Masters in April.
Rose finished runner-up to Rory McIlroy in a playoff hole at Augusta National last year after an inspired final round performance.
Having also lost a playoff to Sergio Garcia in 2017, it feels like he finally deserves to win a Green Jacket.
With the form he is in, there are few players with a better chance in 2026.
