Prior to the start of the 2026 MLB season, most (if not all) baseball experts predicted that the Milwaukee Brewers would regress. Despite proving their doubters wrong time and again, the three-time reigning National League Central Division champions had everyone outside of their fanbase thinking that they were going to take a step back.
There were many reasons given by these experts for their predictions, but starting pitching was one of them. After trading Freddy Peralta, they believed Milwaukee was not going to be able to put together a solid starting rotation.
Boy, were they ever wrong!
Logan Henderson has stepped up in a big way for the Milwaukee Brewers
Jacob Misiorowski, of course, is the favorite to win the National League Cy Young Award. He is 14-5 with a 1.95 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 236 strikeouts.
And while Misiorowski has surpassed the expectations many had for him, so too has Logan Henderson. After a solid Major League debut in 2025 that ended too quickly due to injury, Henderson returned in 2026 to be the Brewers’ second-best starting pitcher.
In their weekly power rankings, The Athletic even named him the best thing that happened to Milwaukee this (while giving the Brewers the top overall spot):
“The 24-year-old has posted a 2.34 ERA in 16 starts (88 1/3 innings). Paired with The Miz, Henderson gives Milwaukee a two-headed monster.
“Over his last five starts, Henderson has a 1.41 ERA, with 30 strikeouts against just four walks. In that span, the Brewers went 4-1 as he faced the Dodgers, Braves and Cubs twice, never allowing more than two runs and reaching seven innings pitched in three of them. Not too bad for a fourth-round pick.”
Overall, Henderson is 10-3 with that 2.34 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts in 88.1 innings of work. He missed time mid-season due to a back strain, but has otherwise been one of Milwaukee’s most consistent pitchers all year long.
As October draws closer and closer, there are debates raging on who will be the Brewers’ third and fourth starting pitchers. Misiorowski, obviously, is going to start whatever Game One’s Milwaukee plays. Henderson is just as sure a pick for Game Two because of his dominance ever since he made his Major League debut.
Without Henderson, the state of the Brewers starting rotation would be even more of a concern than it already is. Since he has been so reliable and consistent, Milwaukee has an easy choice for which arm will follow Misiorowski in the postsesaon.
One would think that, in a seven-game series, Misiorowski and Henderson might each pitch twice. This gives the Brewers as good of a chance as any in winning said series.
Oh, and he is yet to give up more than three runs in a start so far in his career.
