Fresh off a riveting women’s hockey tournament at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, the PWHL is getting a nationally televised showcase this weekend.

The New York Sirens and Montreal Victoire match up Saturday in Detroit for a “Takeover Tour” game designed to showcase the third-year league to fan bases outside its home markets. The game will also mark the PWHL’s first on linear national television in the U.S.

Canadian star Sarah Fillier leads the Sirens attack. The 25-year-old starred in the 2022 and 2026 Olympics and finished tied with Hilary Knight as the PWHL’s points leader last season as a rookie. Canada’s backup goaltender from the Milan Cortina Games, Kayle Osborne, has started every game in net for New York and has a 2.52 goals-against average, while Canada’s starting netminder Ann-Renée Desbiens will backstop Montreal.

Unfortunately, the Victoire will be missing their marquee player, Team Canada captain Marie-Philip Poulin, who is out at least two more weeks after aggravating the knee injury that caused her to miss two games during the Olympics. Veteran Abby Roque, who played for New York the last two seasons, leads Montreal with 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists), and 2026 U.S. Olympian Hayley Scamurra is also a key contributor (3 goals, 7 assists).

Montreal is in a tight race with Boston and Minnesota atop the PWHL standings, while New York is trying to shake off a three-game losing streak and climb back into playoff contention.
