Michigan State basketball went into Assembly Hall on Sunday afternoon and beat the Hoosiers, 77-64, leading for almost the duration of the game. The win, great for the Spartans chances at a triple-bye in the Big Ten Tournament and a 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, was harsh for the Hoosiers. As a bubble team, Indiana is staring at another missed NCAA Tournament, if things do not change in the coming weeks.

Following the game, first year Indiana head coach Darian DeVries spoke to the media about the loss to Michigan State:

  • “Really our fight was great, especially in the second half….we just couldn’t enough consecutive possession offensively to get over that hump, I thought they were leaving it all there for the most part.”
  • “We’ve hit a rough stretch, there’s a short of time here with the regular season and Big Ten tournament to go on a run, that has to be our mindset, has to be our focus, leave it all there.”
  • “I never thought we got great offense, possession after possession, I didn’t think there was a lot of consistency there…second half (on defense) was really just the rebounding.”
  • “I thought we competed our asses off tonight, it just wasn’t enough.”
