MANHATTAN, Kan. – Top performers in No. 22 Houston’s 35-16 victory over Kansas State on Saturday:

Patrick Overmyer

Count ’em: one, two, three, four. Overmyer caught four touchdown passes to match the NCAA single-game record for a tight end. In a word, he was simply unstoppable.

Conner Weigman

UH’s unflappable game manager continued his hot start with four touchdown passes  – and no turnovers. His season totals: 15 TDs, one interception. Get ready for a quarterback duel this week between Weigman and Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker.

Offensive line

We’ll forgive the three false-start penalties. This unit gave Weigman plenty of time to work and opened up some big holes for Re’Shaun Sanford II and Makhi Hughes, who combined for 168 of the Cougars’ 233 rushing yards.

Latreveon McCutchin/Quindario Lee

The two defensive players get the nod here for their combined sack of Avery Johnson in the second quarter,  the first sack Kansas State had allowed this season. UH actually had two in the game. The other was a combined sack by Khalil Laufau and Myles Parker.

Liam Dougherty

The Aussie averaged 59.3 yards on three punts. He absolutely boomed a career-high 74-yarder.

Slade Nagle/Austin Armstrong

UH’s coordinators got their units to play complementary football. Over the past five-plus quarters, the Cougars have scored 62 points while allowing only 16. The offense corrected its  red-zone struggles from the previous week against UCF with a heavy dose of Overmyer, while the defense never allowed Johnson to get comfortable.
