Barring inclement weather conditions, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff will host another long list of 2027 prospects, including the No. 1-ranked recruit (Rivals), five-star cornerback John Meredith, whom the Aggies hope to land a commitment from in the coming months.
Combined with several key Aggie targets, including four-star offensive linemen Albert Simien and Ismael Camara, five-star Edge Zyron Forstall, four-star Edge Cameron Hall, and four-star DL DeMarco Jenkins, the coaching staff is hoping that the predicted snowy forecast won’t prevent the prospects from visiting, but earlier this week, Elko and several staff members visited one of the program’s top targets who made his way to College Station last weekend.
2027 five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson is high on Mike Elko’s list of 2027 prospects, possessing all the necessary traits to become a star at the next level, and has already developed a strong bond with Mike Elko and most of the 2026 defensive staff, including new defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill. Dobson praised Elko’s progress after two seasons during his recent interview with Rivals.
“It was great,” Dobson stated to Rivals. “I got a chance to build an even better relationship with the staff. After a couple of changes, Coach Elko continues to tell me how they are going to keep stacking great classes, and they are going to win.”
This week, Hemphill and two other staff members visited Dobson at Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina, as the five-star prospect reportedly “can’t wait” to take another visit to College Station in the coming weeks/months. Standing at 6’1″ and nearly 180 pounds, Dobson has plenty of room to grow into his frame and will likely compete for a starting outside cornerback job in his second or third season at the next level.
“The facilities are unmatched, and it’s amazing seeing the campus as well,” Dobson stated. “Can’t wait to get back, definitely soon.”
According to Rivals, Dobson is currently positioned as the 5th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 2nd-ranked cornerback prospect, and the No. 1-ranked recruit in North Carolina.
