The Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense was a disappointment last year, but that wasn’t Jalen Ramsey’s fault.
Ramsey was terrific for the Steelers after being traded from the Miami Dolphins last summer. He was also a great teammate, changing positions midway through the season after DeShon Elliott’s season-ending injury. The star cornerback shifted to free safety, doing what was best for the team and stepping up in Elliott’s absence.
At age 31, Ramsey played all 17 regular-season games and earned his eighth Pro Bowl nod. He set a career high with three sacks and matched his personal bests with 88 combined tackles and four quarterback hits.
At the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Pittsburgh GM Omar Khan praised the star defender for his contributions last season, which helped the Steelers win the AFC North.
“Jalen, I can’t say enough good things about him. His approach to the game is really awesome. His preparation…He’s got versatility…I know the new coaching staff is excited to work with him. I can’t say enough about what he did for us early in the season, he switched positions…He’s one of the most unselfish football players I’ve been around,” Khan said.
New head coach Mike McCarthy is lucky to have Ramsey anchoring his defense as he prepares for the 2026 campaign. Time will tell where Ramsey plays next season, but now the Steelers know he’s capable of playing either safety or cornerback. if needed.
