The Boston Celtics plan to sign free agent big man Charles Bassey to a 10-day deal, per recent reports from HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto. As noted by Scotto, Bassey has put up an average of 4.3 points on 63 percent shooting from the field overall and 4.3 rebounds in 11.1 minutes during his five combined NBA seasons suiting up for the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, and Philadelphia 76ers.

The Western Kentucky alum last played for the Sixers for a single game earlier this season, and has played with Boston at Las Vegas Summer League this past offseason. Bassey will not likely be retained beyond the expiration of the 10-day contract given the tight window Boston has to work with financially if they want to remain below the luxury tax in their quest to reset the repeater tax this season.

Keep an eye out for the Celtics to sign another player in the next day or so to another 10-day deal to remain in compliance with league roster size rules, however.
