The Boston Red Sox came to an agreement on a one-year contract with infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
MassLive’s Chris Cotillo confirmed the news on Wednesday, sharing that the deal is worth $6 million.
Kiner-Falefa, who can play second base, third base, shortstop and outfield, has bounced around in recent seasons, spending time with the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays since 2021.
Kiner-Falefa slashed .266/.302/.356 with 10 home runs, 39 doubles and 83 RBIs across the last two seasons with Pittsburgh and Toronto, appearing in six games for the latter in the 2025 World Series loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Red Sox suddenly have plenty of options to fill both of their needs at second and third base, with IKF joining the likes of Marcelo Mayer, Romy Gonzalez, Kristian Campbell, Nick Sogard, David Hamilton and the freshly acquired Mickey Gasper — some of which likely won’t make it to Opening Day on March 26.
Boston still has work to do, however…
