The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly expected to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders will make the Kubiak hire official after the Super Bowl, which is required because of NFL rules.
In the wake of news breaking that Kubiak is going to Las Vegas, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gave some details of the meeting between Kubiak and Tom Brady, the Raiders’ minority owner.
Fowler reports that Kubiak and Brady “hit it off” it in the first interview, and that helped give Kubiak momentum to ultimately land the job.
“One thing I was told about Klint Kubiak and Las Vegas is that he and minority owner Tom Brady very much hit it off in the initial interview,” Fowler said. “He was able to create momentum with his initial interview and that carried into this week.”
“Both are all ball,” a source told Fowler.
With Brady having a big role in the franchise, his relationship with Kubiak is very important.
During the Raiders’ head coach search, it was reported by Essentially Sports’ Tony Pauline that candidates, including Kubiak, “must be comfortable with” Brady “looking over their shoulder and potentially second-guessing decisions.”
Based on the fact that Kubiak is taking the job, it’s safe to say that’s not a big concern for Kubiak, who will now be tasked with turning around a franchise that has been down-and-out for far too long.
