Offensive lineman Yosh Nijman is moving on from football.

In a shocking development, Nijman has announced his retirement from the NFL. The 30-year-old, who entered the new league year as a free agent, played the past two seasons as a member of the Carolina Panthers.

Nijman posted the following to Instagram late Wednesday night:

The Orange, N.J. native and Virginia Tech product cracked into the league as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2019. He’d spend his first five pro campaigns there, starting in 22 of his 67 appearances.

Carolina then signed Nijman to a two-year pact ahead of the 2024 season. He made seven starts over 32 games for the Panthers through 2025, and filled in for an injured Ikem Ekwonu at left tackle for most of the team’s wild-card round game against the Los Angeles Rams in January.
