Well, we’re almost done on the women’s side, too.
After just three games on Sunday, which marked the start of the second round of the women’s NCAA tournament, only 19 perfect brackets filled out by Yahoo Sports users were still left standing. That’s down from the 55 brackets that survived the first round.

While Michigan’s win over NC State and North Carolina’s win over Maryland knocked out a few, the biggest mover in the early wave of games on Sunday came from Minneapolis. Minnesota, after trailing by eight points entering the fourth quarter, hit a game-winner with just 0.8 seconds left on the clock to beat Ole Miss. Amaya Battle hit a shot from the short corner, which sparked a massive celebration on their home floor.

That sent the Gophers into the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2005.
As a result of the win, 15 more brackets were knocked out. That brought the count to 19.
After a slow start on Friday, brackets started falling quickly on Saturday in the second half of the opening round of the tournament. Virginia’s win over Georgia did the most damage, taking it from 29% down to just 0.7% left. Then by the end of the night, only 55 were still undefeated.
The men’s side lost all of its perfect brackets on Saturday, too. After just six made it to the start of the second round, Texas’ upset win over No. 3 Gonzaga did the trick and eliminated the rest.
While a handful of brackets are still perfect, they are falling very quickly on Sunday. At this rate, we’re going to be lucky to see any make it to Monday, let alone the second weekend of the tournament.
