Rivals300

After years of dominance on the recruiting trail by the ‘Big Three’ of Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia, new programs have emerged in the post-NIL and revenue-sharing world.

No longer are those teams stockpiling quite as much talent — though Georgia isn’t far off its usual pace. Instead, with top prospects spreading out, programs like Oregon, USC, Texas and Notre Dame have emerged as legitimate threats to bring home the No. 1 class each year.

In 2025, it was the Longhorns who secured their first top-ranked class in the modern recruiting era. And this year, it’s the Trojans, who have their first No. 1 crop since 2005-06; the rival Fighting Irish aren’t far behind them. They lead the country each with 17 players ranked in the final Rivals300, combining to sign more than 10% of the nation’s top 300 recruits between them.

Rivals breaks down the top classes:

17 – Notre Dame, USC

It’s no surprise these two teams have the No. 1 and No. 2 classes in the Rivals Industry Ranking. New USC general manager Chad Bowden — hired last January by Lincoln Riley — brought a lot of the same strategies to Los Angeles that helped Notre Dame build a championship-level roster while he was in South Bend. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, have kept things rolling with head coach Marcus Freeman and Director of Player Personnel Jourdan Blake leading the charge.
