It hasn’t been the best offseason for Notre Dame with players leaving for new places, and on Friday morning, another has decided to move away from South Bend.
Starting guard Billy Schrauth decided that he will be moving on to the next level, and declared for the NFL draft on Friday. He is the second starting offensive lineman to make the move, following Aamil Wagner’s decision to do the same.
This move wasn’t surprising, especially considering the injury history that he has. Schrauth was unable to finish this fall after sustaining a knee injury against USC. When healthy, he was one of the best lineman that Notre Dame had, it’s unfortunate that he wasn’t able to stay on the field.
Schrauth entered the program as a 4-star prospect out of Wisconsin and lived up to his billing. While he still had a season of eligibility left, he’ll leave with multiple-years of starting experience and should have a very good NFL career. We wish Billy the best at the next level.
