Mike Vrabel reveals status of A.J. Brown trade

The NFL combine is not only an event for prospects to meet with teams; teams are all gathered together. Closed-door meetings include deals for trades and other details exchanged.

One hot topic has been the Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver A.J. Brown. Brown has been noticeably frustrated with the team and his role.

It also doesn’t help that their head coach was non-committal on his future. Enter Brown’s former head coach: New England’s Mike Vrabel.

Vrabel was visibly upset on draft night with the Tennessee Titans after his GM traded Brown to Philly. With Brown praising Vrabel recently, one of the main questions at the combine for Vrabel was whether he would trade for his former receiver.

While he tried to skate around the subject, it’s telling that he didn’t deny the possibility. Vrabel spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon at the combine.

“I think that we’ll look at everything that we can possibly look at to add to our roster,” Vrabel told Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald.

“I’m sure there’ll be a lot of opportunities for us to talk about trades, not only this week, but as we prepare and get closer to the draft.” While it wasn’t an outright yes or no, it’s clear the door is open.

Vrabel and Brown have a ton of respect for each other, as they have spoken in the media. Brown’s departure from Tennessee was contract-related.

Imagine if quarterback Drake Maye got Brown in New England? It could make things interesting in the AFC East.
