Kyle Busch enters NASCAR’s first off weekend with work to do at Richard Childress Racing. After the first seven races of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, Busch sits 24th in the point standings with a 48-point deficit to the Chase bubble. Needless to say, it has been a disappointing start for the No. 8 team.

The Richard Childress Racing driver sits behind Zane Smith, Erik Jones, and A.J. Allmendinger in the point standings with a best finish of 12th place through seven races. There is plenty of time for Busch and the No. 8 team to turn around their performances; however, the NASCAR organization hasn’t shown the needed pace.

Busch is now riding a 100-race winless streak in the Cup Series, with his last win coming at World Wide Technology Raceway in June 2023. If Busch and the No. 8 team want to end a near three-year drought, Richard Childress Racing has to find more speed coming out of NASCAR’s first off weekend of 2026.
