Greenville’s Lions and Lady Lions keep having their schedules altered in District 9-5A basketball and soccer due to the winter storm.

The varsity home games against Sherman in both sports were moved back at first from Tuesday to Wednesday, then to Thursday and now there’s been other changes.

The Lady Lions and Lions had their home varsity basketball games in the GHS gymnasium against Sherman postponed to Saturday. The Lady Lions are to play first at 1 p.m. The Lions’ game is to follow at about 2:30 p.m. The Lady Lions are to honor their seniors.

The Lady Lions and Lions had their home varsity soccer matches against Sherman switched to Monday at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium in Greenville. The Lady Lions are to play first at 4:15 p.m., with the Lions to follow with their game against Sherman at 6 p.m., also on Monday. The junior varsity boys match was cancelled.

The Lady Lions’ soccer team is 0-2 in district play with losses of 9-0 to both Walnut Grove and Melissa.

The Lions’ soccer team is 0-2 in district play with losses of 6-2 to Melissa and 3-0 to Walnut Grove.

Sherman’s Lady Bearcats are 1-8 in district basketball play with the lone win, 42-21 over Greenville in Sherman on Jan. 3.

Sherman’s Bearcats are 1-6 in district boys basketball play with the only win by a 49-31 margin over Greenville on Dec. 23.

Greenville is to continue district play in basketball and soccer as scheduled on Friday with games in Anna.

The varsity girls’ basketball team is scheduled to play at 5:45 p.m. on Friday in the Coyotes’ gym and the varsity boys to follow at 7 p.m.

The varsity girls’ soccer team is scheduled to play at Anna at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by the varsity boys’ soccer match.

Anna’s 19-6 Coyotes lead the District 9-5A boys basketball race at 7-0, including a 69-46 win over the Greenville Lions at Greenville on Jan. 6. The Coyotes have the tallest team in the district with players listed on the roster at 6-10, 6-8 and 6-5.

The Anna girls are 16-13 overall and 4-5 in district basketball play, including a 75-19 win over the Lady Lions at Greenville on Jan. 6.

Anna’s girls are 0-2 in District 9-5A girls soccer with losses of 8-0 to Lucas Lovejoy and 6-1 to McKinney North.

Anna’s boys are also 0-2 in district 9-5A soccer with losses of 3-0 to Lucas Lovejoy and 6-1 to McKinney North.
