The Cleveland Browns landed three Pro Bowlers this season, not two. Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward made it, which was expected. The third name is where things get interesting.

Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is going to the Pro Bowl. That’s a bit of a head-scratcher when you remember what happened on draft day. Sanders was getting first-round buzz for months, then fell all the way to the fifth round.

He’s now the first rookie picked that late to reach the Pro Bowl since Puka Nacua in 2023.

Josh Allen got the AFC starting spot, with Justin Herbert backing him up. Drake Maye was selected too, but the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl run opened up a spot. Sanders filled it.

Some people aren’t buying it. New York Giants tackle Jermaine Eluemunor went off about the selection, calling the Pro Bowl a joke and pointing out that Andrew Thomas hasn’t made one in six seasons while Sanders got in on popularity.

“No hate but the Pro Bowl a joke lol. AT Top LT in the NFL hasn’t made one yet but if you’re popular you get in. Laughable at this point,” Eluemunor wrote.

Cleveland picked Sanders 144th overall in the 2025 draft after all that first-round talk died down. He wasn’t even supposed to play right away.

Sanders was third on the depth chart behind Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel when the season started. Gabriel replaced Flacco early in the year, then Sanders took over in Week 12.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) signals a first down during the second half of an NFL football game at Huntington Bank Field, Dec. 21, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio.

His numbers weren’t great. Sanders played eight games with seven starts, completing 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,400 yards. He threw seven touchdowns against 10 interceptions and averaged 6.6 yards per attempt.

Those stats don’t really support a Pro Bowl selection, but Sanders got the call anyway.
