The Minnesota Vikings‘ defense is poised to be a monster once again in 2026, just as it was in 2025. One way they plan to achieve that is by remaining aggressive, pressuring the quarterback, and forcing bad decisions that lead to turnovers. But there also needs to be someone who breaks through the proverbial glass ceiling for the defense, as some players get a bit older.

As we get into the thick of it for the 2026 offseason, folks are making projections for the next year. PFF Dalton Wasserman wrote up one breakout candidate for each team next year. For the Vikings, he projects it to be Dallas Turner.

Wasserman writes, “Turner may have finally found his footing during the second half of this season. From Weeks 10 through 18, the former first-round pick racked up 24 pressures and seven sacks while ranking 16th among qualified edge rushers in PFF pass-rush grade (76.5). Turner also seemed to find further comfort in run defense, which could make him a more viable three-down player in 2026.”

Turner had a strong end to the season, and his role grew throughout the season. Earning a role in Brian Flores’ defense isn’t easy, but through two seasons, it seems the former Alabama pass rusher has finally done that.
