The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ current quarterback room, sans Aaron Rodgers, continues to raise red flags as the unproven Will Howard could be slated for a starting role in 2026. And a former NFL cornerback shared a bold take regarding this very real possibility.
On a recent episode of the Deebo & Joe podcast, former Steelers cornerback Joe Haden shared a bold take regarding the current state of Pittsburgh’s quarterback room — that Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is better than Howard.
“To win in this NFL, you need a quarterback,” Haden told James Harrison. “Right now, I like the Browns’ quarterback just a little bit better than the Steelers’ quarterback. Just saying … We’ve got to see what Will Howard does, though. … My quarterback Shedeur [Sanders] is a little bit better right now than [the Steelers] quarterback.”
It’s no surprise that Haden, who began his NFL career in Cleveland, isn’t shying away from giving Sanders his flowers, even if the fifth-round quarterback threw for an abysmal stat line of 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions last season.
