SOUTH ORANGE −Abby Kiem went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as DePaul shook off a slow start to win its second straight Non-Public B state title with a 10-5 win over St. Joseph Academy on June 10 at Ivy Hill Park.
The Wildcats led 2-0 after two innings, but the Spartans’ offense caught fire in the third. Kiem hit a two-run double to tie the score, then scored on a wild pitch to give her team the lead.
Kaelyn Brown also slammed an opposite-field home run in the fifth as DePaul scored five runs in the frame.
The Spartans finished the season 20-8. They also won the Passaic County title.
