Dakota Wesleyan sweeps GPAC men’s soccer players of the week honors

Oct. 7—MITCHELL — A pair of Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer standouts swept the Great Plains Athletic Conference players of the week honors on Tuesday.

DWU sophomore forward Evan Bolster was named the GPAC men’s soccer offensive player of the week for the second consecutive week, while DWU senior goalkeeper and Sioux Falls native Carter Hanson claimed the league’s defensive player of the week.

Bolster, from Midelton, Ireland, had a two-match stretch that saw the forward record three goals and an assist, posting impressive shots in a 4-1 win over Dordt and a 2-0 victory against Hastings. He recorded both of the Tigers’ goals in their first-ever win over Hastings in program history, added a goal and an assist against Dordt, and posted a .750 shot-on-goal percentage throughout the week.

Bolster has started all eight contests, with a team-high five goals and 12 shots-on-goal on the season.

Hanson, an O’Gorman graduate, piled up eight saves between the two wins for DWU, only surrendering one goal to claim his first-ever GPAC defensive player of the week honor. He posted six saves in a 4-1 win over Dordt and two saves in a shutout against Hastings.

Hanson has seven starts as the goalkeeper for the Tigers this season, surrendering a total of eight goals, while tallying 24 saves, a .750 save percentage and three shutouts on the year.

Dakota Wesleyan (4-3-1, 3-1 GPAC) has picked up four wins in its last five contests and will face GPAC-leading Concordia next at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Nebraska.
