Cris Cyborg has issued a lengthy response to Ronda Rousey following her comments earlier this week.

At the press conference announcing her MMA comeback, Rousey launched sharp criticisms at a bunch of people.

While the UFC was the main focus of her frustration, Cyborg was also mentioned during the fiery session.

Cyborg was suspended for a year and fined $2,500 after testing positive for stanozolol in December 2011.

The result of her win over Hiroko Yamanaka was changed to a ‘No Contest’ and she lost her Strikeforce featherweight title.

Since then, Cyborg has consistently said she believed the substance was a weight loss supplement.

Now, 15 years on from the incident, the Brazilian fighter feels she has demonstrated that she is a clean athlete.

Following Rousey’s accusation of ‘cheating’ in her August 2009 victory over Gina Carano, Cyborg took to X to share her perspective.

“I had one failed test for PEDs in my 21-year career. 2011. 15 years ago,” she began by saying.

“The sport was very different at that time, and I didn’t even speak English then. I had no idea the pills given to me in Brazil to ‘help lose weight’ were banned for athletes in the USA.

“I served my penalty. I learned a life lesson. I have been involved in Olympic-style testing for over 15 years without any other issues. I have proven I am a clean athlete. I use my own experience to mentor younger athletes on the importance of knowing what you put into your bodies and the dangers of PEDs.

“21 years I have been fighting. When @RondaRousey hid her face in a pillow…I walked that same experience with dignity and humility, something you couldn’t display during your @ufc career and something you’re already highlighting with your @MostVpromotions fight with @ginacarano.

“One thing I absolutely know is that you will say every mean thing in the world…but you won’t fight me.

“I pray one day you become happy in yourself.”

What Ronda Rousey had to say about Cris Cyborg

Rousey did not hold back when asked about Cyborg during her press conference on Tuesday.

The topic came up after Carano brought up her history with the Brazilian legend, referencing their five-round fight. That bout was a first for women’s MMA.

Carano is now getting ready to take on Rousey in another five-round fight, set for 16 May.

“Obviously, a cheating, roided-up b— that totally cheated you out of your title that was deservingly yours.

“You’re too nice to say it, so I’m gonna say, f— her. You’re the best,” Rousey stated.
