Caitlin Clark’s exit interview is today. Indiana Fever superstar faces big offseason

INDIANAPOLIS — The long-awaited exit interview for Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is here today.

Clark and Sophie Cunningham were excused from Saturday’s exit interviews that featured four starters, coach Stephanie White and COO and general manager Amber Cox. The Fever set a franchise record for wins (28) but finished sixth in the standings and were a first-round exit in the WNBA Playoffs, showing no signs of progress despite Clark being available for most of the season. All this despite having three WNBA All-Star starters in Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston − a championship core let down by its supporting cast and roster risks that did not pay off.

It’s a big winter for Clark, who will get to train as opposed to continuing to rehab from injuries. She’s also eligible for the EPIC extension, something Cox said was a top priority. Fitting that max contract into the salary cap pool with Boston’s $1.4 million and the front office hoping to re-sign Mitchell, who is an unrestricted free agent for the first time after spending nine years in Indiana, creates an offseason puzzle.
