After it was officially announced that the Cleveland Browns would be hiring Todd Monken as their head coach, many NFL media members, former players, and more, took to Twitter/X to stress their opinions. One of the people who had a positive take on the hiring was former Ravens star wide receiver Torrey Smith.

Smith was quick to shine a positive light on the Browns‘ hiring Monken on Wednesday afternoon, his first career NFL head coaching opportunity: “Might be unpopular in Baltimore for the moment, but I watched him lead meetings one day. He communicates like a head coach”.

This high opinion of Monken is a refreshing one, after many Browns fans have disagreed with the move to hire the veteran offensive coordinator. Even still, the 59-year-old brings a long history of successful experience, including his time as the Baltimore Ravens and University of Georgia offensive coordinator. We’ll see what his plans are for this offense and the team as a whole as the Browns enter a critical period in the offseason.
