The Seattle Seahawks designated tight end Elijah Arroyo to return to practice Wednesday.
The team put out a press release before practice.
Arroyo missed the final four games of the regular season on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury in Week 14 vs the Atlanta Falcons while cutting on an out-breaking route. He likely would’ve been even better in college and drafted higher if he didn’t suffer from injuries as much in his college career. The Seahawks now have 21 days to let him practice before they have to add him to the active roster.
Prior to landing on IR, Arroyo played 13 games this year and caught 15 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps his biggest asset was just the threat of his athleticism in a 6’5 ⅛”, 250 lb. body in the middle of the field. It forced defenses to concentrate more help between the hashes and gave Jaxon Smith-Njigba significantly more one-on-one matchups. This will particularly help the Seahawks in the playoffs against the better defenses they might face.
Later in the afternoon, Hawk Blogger filmed this video of Arroyo suited up and jogging to his first practice.
