The College Football Playoff did not disappoint in the quarterfinal round with multiple upsets. I believe upsets will continue this week. Dante Moore and the Oregon Ducks will try to settle the score against Indiana in a game that lives up to all the hype Friday night. Here are my predictions for the semifinals of the College Football Playoff:(6) Ole Miss over (10) MiamiTrinidad Chambliss and the Rebels have the exact magic needed to go on a special run in the playoffs. I do not think that magic will run out this week. Chambliss and the Rebels have their toughest challenge yet against a generational defense in the Miami Hurricanes. The Rebels are trying to prove a point to the rest of the country and Lane Kiffin. That motivation was strong enough to take down Georgia. This offense is prolific and good enough to find success even against the best defenses. It will take another star performance against Chambliss and Kewan Lacy being a compliment on the ground. I think the Rebels have another upset in them. I like Chambliss to put together a game-winning drive and outplay Carson Beck drastically. With a great performance against Miami, Chambliss could just head to the NFL draft with the postseason he has had. (5) Oregon over (1) IndianaOregon displayed last week that it has a defense that can win games alone, even when their offense is having a down game. Against Indiana, that will be very crucial. However, Fernando Mendoza is playing at his best, and he is coming off an elite showing versus Alabama. Dante Moore will need to combat that and show why he should be selected after Mendoza in the NFL draft. With a great performance and maybe a national championship under his belt, who knows, he can make the discussion for the number 1 overall pick even trickier. Oregon will have to be at its best at every level to take down the Hoosiers, and if it can survive this game and be victorious, I think it will win the national championship game. I expect Dante Moore to lead the Ducks to victory and get help from his run game, and for the Ducks’ defense to follow his lead. I like the Ducks to avenge their loss to the Hoosiers early in the season with a close, thrilling win. This game will be the national championship game and will end up being the best game of the entire CFP.Top performers in the semifinalsThese games will be driven by elite quarterback play. Just like in the NFL, the teams with the best quarterbacks will win. Miami has the best defense left in the CFP, maybe the best defense in the country as a whole. However, a quarterback who is in the zone can beat a great defense. I think Trinidad Chambliss is up to the task. I expect Chambliss to throw for 300 yards and 2-3 passing touchdowns to lead the Rebels to victory. While the defense for the Hurricanes won’t allow a 30-point game by the Rebels, I do not trust Carson Beck to play well enough to win this game. Chambliss is the X factor, and he will be the biggest reason Ole Miss wins. He will deliver another superstar performance. In the other game, I see Dante Moore just like Chambliss did, getting his revenge. Moore had his worst game against Indiana, and the Hoosiers were able to rattle him and get him out of his game. I think he gets in his zone and instead puts up the best game of his career. He will outclass the projected No. 1 overall pick, Mendoza. I like Dante Moore to throw for 250 yards and two passing touchdowns. I do see him finding the end zone with his legs.National Championship MatchupWith my two predictions, I have the Oregon Ducks and the Ole Miss Rebels matching up in the title game. If this is the outcome, this would be a very successful College Football Playoff. You have two teams that are not regularly playing for national titles and two teams that have overcome huge odds to get to this point. It would go down to the wire and satisfy everyone who will watch it. A No. 5 seed and No. 6 seed matching up in the title game will be the perfect summary to all the chaos that defined this college football season.Title WinnerI have Oregon getting the best of Ole Miss in a shootout for the ages. Both Dante Moore and Trinidad Chambliss will maintain their elite play and follow their great performances in the semifinals with another stellar game. I think Dante Moore outduels Chambliss, and he leads his team to victory. As explosive an offense as the Rebels have, the Ducks can match that in every way, and they will get the edge by being better at the most important position in the field. Right now, I would say Dante Moore puts together a game-winning drive and takes down the Rebels 40-38.This article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: Micah Huff’s football predictions for the CFP semifinals
