Jalen Hurts did not view the Philadelphia Eagles’ final possession against the Tennessee Titans as an isolated moment. Thinking back to those early spring and summer golf outings and throwing sessions, the moxie to withstand Jeffery Simmons and the Titans was forged months ago. The quarterback viewed it as the result of months spent throwing, studying film, and building chemistry with his teammates.
“When you talk about those moments, end-of-minute, two-minute drives, game-winning drives, you don’t think about the moment itself,” Hurts said, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. “You think about what led you to the moment, the foundation.”
That preparation was tested after Tennessee took a 20-17 lead with 1:56 remaining. Philadelphia had no timeouts, but Hurts calmly directed a nine-play, 65-yard drive in 1:47. He completed 6 of 8 passes for 61 yards on the possession. Dontayvion Wicks made an acrobatic reception to start the drive before Darius Cooper produced a 23-yard catch that moved Philadelphia into Tennessee territory.

Hurts later connected with DeVonta Smith for 19 yards, advancing the Eagles to the 3-yard line with 14 seconds remaining. On the next play, Hurts worked through his progression and found Cooper for the winning touchdown with nine seconds left. Hurts pointed to throwing sessions at UCF, time spent together in Houston and extensive film conversations as the foundation for that execution.
“Just the chemistry, and trying to build that, the effort to build that chemistry is very important for moments like this,” Hurts said.
Hurts finished 26-of-37 passing for 264 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed passes to nine receivers. The final drive showed why the Eagles invested so much time building familiarity within their reworked offense. When Philadelphia needed precision under pressure, Hurts and his receivers relied on work they completed long before arriving in Nashville.
