The Washington Huskies got bad news regarding their top two running backs following a 24-10 win over Washington State in the Apple Cup on Sunday.
Second-year running back Quaid Carr left the game in the first half after tallying 28 yards on 5 carries and adding a catch for 4 yards. According to Jedd Fisch, the product of Servite High School in Southern California will miss several weeks with a hand injury following his first career start.
“Quaid is going to have to get surgery; I don’t know what that will look like just yet,” Fisch said on Monday.
The news wasn’t much better for fourth-year Jayden Limar, who suffered an elbow injury late in the fourth quarter and will also miss significant time. Fisch stated that it was unclear if either will miss the remainder of the season.
On top of the neck injury that third-year Jordan Washington suffered in the spring, Washington’s depth at the position is worryingly thin.
“Yeah, very,” Fisch added when asked if he was concerned about Washington’s depth in the backfield.
In their stead, sixth-year Trey Cooley and first-years Brian Bonner and Ansu Sanoe are expected to shoulder the majority of the workload, although Fisch also floated the possibility of utilizing tight end/fullback Kade Eldridge in the backfield too.
