A lightweight affair pitting the unbeaten Khabalaev (5-0, 0-0 PFL)
against Delva (7-1, 0-0 PFL) at 155 pounds kicks off festivities at
the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. Keith Peterson adjudicates
matters. Awkward glove touch gets them going. Delva immediately
pushes for a clinch and presses his counterpart into the cage.
Khabalaev denies the takedown and turns Delva into the fence. They
trade knees to the body, as they jockey for position.
Khabalaev drops Delva with a knee to the body, assumes top position
and initiates his ground-and-pound. Delva tries to get up, eats
another knee to the midsection, hits the deck again and eats a
volley of punches. Peterson offers him the chance to respond, then
intercedes on his behalf.

Round 1

They keep the PFL New York line moving with a women’s flyweight
tilt between De La Rosa (13-9-1, 0-0 PFL) and the undefeated
Postarnakova (5-0, 1-0 PFL) at 125 pounds. Tommy Santana accepts
the officiating assignment. Away they go in the second bout on the
card. DLR probes with her jab, feints and whiffs on a low kick.
Postarnakova doubles up on her jab and connects on an inside leg
kick, then circles. They trade jabs in the center of the cage, and
DLR lands a left hook. Wide stance from Postarnakova. Another lead
left hook from DLR, who follows with a glancing head kick.
Postarnakova counters a leg kick from the American with one of her
own. Modest “USA!” chant breaks out, then subsides. They exchange
jabs and continue to circle. Halfway home in the first round.
Neither woman has gained separation. More jabs from DLR, who
sprawls on a surprise takedown attempt. They clinch along the
fence. DLR powers into top position, only to lose her way and wind
up on the bottom. Postarnakova works behind her and jumps to the
backpack position, forcing DLR to crash back to the canvas. Both
hooks in for the Russian. Postarnakova flirts with a rear-naked
choke as the round closes.

Round 2

DLR likely facing an early deficit in her promotional debut. They
touch gloves out of respect, then get down to business. DLR steps
into a powerful right hand, follows it into the clinch and secures
double underhooks. She lands a few knees to the body, forcing
Postarnakova to play defense. Fans boo as they stall along the
fence. Tough crowd. More knees to the body from DLR, who has bled
the first 90 seconds off the clock. DLR connects with another knee
to the body. Postarnakova threatens with a guillotine and jumps
guard with the choke secured. DLR trying to punch her way out, then
addresses the grip and breaks it. DLR lands an elbow, fends off an
attempted triangle and gets to half guard. DLR attacks the neck and
bites down on a guillotine of her own. Postarnakova stays calm and
relieves pressure by rolling to her side while still in the DLR
guard. Time runs out.

Round 3

Should be a round apiece here, barring any goofy scoring. DLR
starts with a jab, avoids the return fire and resets. Labored
movements from both women after all the grappling in the first two
rounds. Sharp jab from DLR. Postarnakova answers with a right hand
over the top. Slapping head kick lands for DLR. Postarnakova
snatches a head lock and secures a takedown, setting off a
scramble. Postarnakova wins it and drives into half guard before
landing a few elbows. The Russian settles in full guard. DLR may be
running out of gas in her first post-UFC appearance. Postarnakova
moves to half guard again and unleashes elbows. DLR again recovers
full guard. Postarnakova stays busy with short punches and
hammerfists. Ninety seconds to go. More ground-and-pound from
Postarnakova, who has seized control here. DLR tries to kick her
opponent away. Postarnakova zeroes in on the neck and lands a few
knees= to the head and body as DLR stands. DLR secures a body lock
but struggles to mount meaningful offense. She tosses Postarnakova
to the floor and sets of a final exchange between the two
participants.

175 pounds. Dan Miragliotta presides over the proceedings. Piersma
shoots on a single-leg, eats a few punches and secures a powerful
takedown. El Dafrawy lands elbows from the bottom. Piersma postures
but cannot get off any offense. El Dafrawy opens a cut with an
elbow strike from the bottom, builds a base and stands. Piersma, in
the backpack position, hunts a choke, then works a face crank. El
Dafrawy defends. Piersma stays attached with a standing body
triangle. He alternates between punches and choke/crank attempts.
Two minutes to go. El Dafrawy spins into top position and goes to
work in full guard. The Egyptian alternates between occasional
elbows and punches. El Dafrawy moves to a kneeling position and
increases the intensity of his ground-and-pound. He sprawls while
Piersma clings to a single-leg. They stand and clinch against the
cage. Thirty seconds to go in a back-and-forth round. El Dafrawy
closes strong with punches, knees and elbows.

Round 2

Momentum in El Dafrawy’s corner to start the middle stanza. Blood
still streaming from Piersma’s forehead. Nevertheless, he shoots on
a single-leg and secures a takedown in the center of the cage.
Piersma maximizes shoulder pressure and works in some punches from
half guard. He clings loosely to a far-side cradle, then passes to
side control. Heavy hips from Piersma, who moves briefly to a
mounted crucifix. El Dafrawy scrambles. Piersma wheels behind him
and secures position his back. The American makes a pass at a
rear-naked choke. Midway through the round. Piersma clamps down on
a body triangle. Fans boo the perceived inaction. Piersma moves to
top position and works on a face crank. El Dafrawy scrambles out
and gets to his feet with less than a minute left. He rolls out of
an attempted single leg and batters Piersma with punches. Piersma
stands, only to be taken down again. Punches and elbows flow, with
Piersma in a kneeling position. Another strong close for El
Dafrawy.

Outcome still very much in doubt at the start of Round 3. Piersma
shoots on a single-leg, eats some punches and bails. El Dafrawy
backs him to the fence, unleashes a knee from the Thai clinch and
follows it with an uppercut. Short-range elbow from the Egyptian.
Piersma takes a front headlock and powers into top position. El
Dafrawy sweeps and hammers away with punches. Piersma closes guard
but eats an elbow. He turns away from contact, takes more punches
and moves to a kneeling position. He tries to stand, but El Dafrawy
curtails those efforts and piles up more points with punches.
Piersma retreats to his back under duress and closes guard. El
Dafrawy lands elbows and punches. Ninety seconds to go, and the
fight appears to be slipping away from Piersma. He frames a kimura,
but it goes nowhere. El Dafrawy continues to land punches as
Piersma stands. The American sneaks behind El Dafrawy and logs
another takedown. Piersma moves to the back with one hook, then
another, and goes after the neck. Time runs out with Piersma
landing short punches.

They greet each other in the center of the cage. Gauci presses
forward, paws with his lead hand and dodges a left hook from the
Brazilian. Begosso turns to his jab, including one to the body.
Gauci feints a right hand and covers up, as Begosso unleashes a
combination. Another stout jab from the Brazilian. Gauci answers
with an overhand right. Begosso turns away an attempted takedown.
Inside leg kick from Begosso, followed by two to the outer lead
leg. Slow start for Gauci. Nice one-two from the Aussie, followed
by a low kick and a right hook to the body. Stout leg kick from
Begosso. Gauci shoots and secures a takedown in the center of the
cage. Body punches from the Australian. Begosso looks to answer
with elbows from the bottom. Two minutes to go. Gauci again targets
the body with punches, then follows them with a slashing elbow.
Begosso makes a pass at a heel hook but surrenders side control in
the process. Gauci stays on top and continues to score. Elbows and
forearm strikes from the Aussie, who has turned the tide. He goes
to work on an arm-triangle but bails in the closing seconds.

Round 2

A back-and-forth first round now gives way to the middle stanza.
Gauci steps forward with a high guard and pressures the Brazilian
to the fence. Three low kicks land for Begosso. Gauci changes
levels and drives his counterpart to the fence, then separates.
Sharp jab from the Australian, who connects to the body with hooks
from both hands. Gauci crashes into the clinch and lands a knee to
the body. Begosso connects with an elbow on the break, as they back
out into open space. They exchange jabs. Begosso threatens a
spinning attack. Gauci again targets the body with punches. He
closes the distance and completes a double-leg takedown in the
center of the cage. Gauci moves to half guard and applies some
serious shoulder pressure. Punches to the body from the Aussie.
Ninety seconds on the clock. Gauci mixes in a few elbows to the
head and uncorks some punches. Begosso stuck on the bottom, as
another round starts to slip away from him. More punches and elbows
from Gauci, who stays on top until the period ends.

Gauci looks to be in firm control as the third round gets underway.
Gauci backs up the Brazilian with a jab. Begosso whiffs with
winging hooks. Lead right from Gauci, who resets and swoops in for
another takedown. Begosso stands. Gauci drops in on the hips and
completes a takedown, then flows to half guard. Steady
ground-and-pound ensues. Begosso tries to stall his way to a
standup. No luck. Nice knee to the body from Guaci, who remains in
half guard. Heavy pressure from the Australian. Gauci shuts down an
attempted sweep, then resumes his assault. He mixes should strikes
with short elbows and punches. Crowd boos despite Gauci’s efforts.
Ninety seconds left. Gauci threatens with an arm-triangle, then
turns back to his ground-and-pound. Short punches to the body from
the Aussie, who has taken complete control here. He boxes the ears
and again threatens Begosso’s neck. Gauci mixes more elbows with
punches in the final seconds.

from Dayron. Stots still not throwing much. He shuts down an
attempted takedown. Dayron resets and stays busy with his jab.
Stots sneaks in an overhand left and a rear elbow strike. He paws
with his jab and blocks a head kick. Dayron ducks into a takedown

Lots of work left to do for both men. Strong push kick to the

blocks it, the impact still knocked him off-balance. Nice one-two
from Stots. Dayron lands a leg kick and eats an overhand left. He
doubles up on his left hook and sticks Stots with a sharp right
hand. Stots answers with a jab, then another. Another push kick
from Dayron followed by an overhand right. Stots denies a takedown
and lands a jab. Both men block head kicks. They trade right hands

Long one-two from Dayron. Not much separation between the two in
this round. Stots sneaks in an overhand right and a right hook to
the body. Sharp jab from the Yves Edwards protégé. Dayron gets his

jab, opening the round with several of them. Dayron shoots on a
takedown, only to get denied. More jabs from Stots followed by a

an overhand left. More jabs from Stots, who has worked his way back
into the fight. Stots follows two jabs with a head kick. Dayron
blocks it, but the message was sent. Stots stops a takedown with a
strong sprawl. Dayron reaching on his punches as fatigue sets in.
Nice left hook to the body from Stots, who continues to call on his
jab. Overhand left from Stots. Dayron shoots on a single-leg. Stots
braces himself on the cage and denies it. They separate and drift
to the center of the cage. Dayron shoots again, only to be met with
another sprawl. Dayron punches into the clinch. Thirty seconds to
go. Stots scrambles on a takedown, calls on a sprawl and eats a few
punches to the body.

PFL) at a 157-pound catchweight. Miragliotta adjudicates matters.
They touch gloves and get down to business. Magomedov paws with his
jab and lands a low kick. He follows a blocked head kick with a leg
kick, then another. Alvarez lands one of his own. Magomedov
continues to batter the Cuban’s lower extremities with kicks. Both
men flurry. Front kick to the body from Magomedov. Alvarez’s lead
leg now visibly compromised. They clinch. Nice short-range elbow
from Magomedov. The Russian snatches the clinch and drives a series
of knees into Alvarez’s body. Hard low kick from Magomedov. One of
his kicks strays south of the border and gives Alvarez a chance to
regroup. Miragliotta issues the warning, then restarts them. A
minute to go in the round. Magomedov gets back to his hyperactive
kicking game and narrowly misses some shin-to-skull contact.
Alvarez now limping from all the kicks to his leg. He clinches out
of desperation as time winds down.
