Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was arrested on a child support warrant on Sunday, and his lawyer has provided a key update on the situation.
According to a statement Bell’s attorney Thom Shaffer provided to TMZ, the former Steelers running back failed to make child support payments that were based on his NFL salary, which he hasn’t earned in years. Additionally, his lawyer pointed out that the “support guidelines by law” were related to current income, not a previous NFL salary. Bell’s lawyer told TMZ that the former Steelers running back will explain the situation to the judge.

Bell, who was drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, played five seasons with Pittsburgh before a contract dispute caused him to sit out the 2018 season.
Playing for the New York Jets, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 to 2021, Bell struggled to find similar success to what he experienced during his first five years with the Steelers.
