This could be considered good news, but no one wants to take too big of a leap of faith yet as no injury is really “good.”

That said, there is at least a possibility that Bayern Munich phenom Lennart Karl’s injury is not major.

Karl had to leave Germany’s training session for a trip to the hospital with an injury, but Bild is reporting it might not be as dire as German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann made it sound:

According to BILD, Karl left the pitch about 20 minutes before the end of training, but at least went to the tunnel on his own. Karl was taken for an MRI scan; it is believed to be a muscle injury.

Karl is part of the six-man Bayern contingent on the DFB squad. Captain Joshua Kimmich (31) backs him up at right back. Kimmich has also recently praised him: “He’s brought to the field what we need from him, what we generally need from young players. That they’re bold, that they take the initiative, that they take risks. He doesn’t have to shoulder the responsibility; he can focus on his game and have fun.”

Now Karl’s World Cup participation is suddenly completely up in the air. It would be a shock.

BFW Commentary

Karl is obviously not out of the woods yet, but — if correct — Bild’s information could potentially eliminate several major injures from consideration here. Fingers crossed Bayern Munich fans!
