As we are all aware, the NFL draft took place late last week into this past weekend. Our Miami Dolphins enter the draft with eleven overall picks, eventually exiting the draft with thirteen picks overall after a trade down and a trade up. Following the draft, I posted a list of all the draft picks from the three days.

  • Round 1 Pick 12: Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama Crimson Tide
  • Round 1 Pick 27: Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego State
  • Round 2 Pick 43: Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech
  • Round 3 Pick 75: Caleb Douglas, WR, Texas Tech
  • Round 3 Pick 87: Will Kacmarek, TE, Ohio State
  • Round 3 Pick 94: Chris Bell, WR, Louisville
  • Round 4 Pick 130: Trey Moore, Edge, Texas
  • Round 4 Pick 138: Kyle Louis, LB, Pittsburgh
  • Round 5 Pick 158: Michael Taaffe, S, Texas
  • Round 5 Pick 177: Kevin Coleman, Jr., WR, Missouri
  • Round 5 Pick 180: Seydou Traore, TE, Mississippi State
  • Round 6 Pick 200: DJ Campbell, G, Texas
  • Round 7 Pick 238: Max Llewellyn, Edge, Iowa

I then asked the following question:

Which of the above Miami Dolphins draft picks are your favorite/do you love, and which of the above are either the picks you hate/just flat out do not understand, and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Miami7 likes the pick of Louis due to his versatility.

I think the Kyle Louis pick is VERY intriguing….swiss army knife kinda Safety/LB hybrid. We shall see…..?

davidson11 would have liked to have seen some of these picks flipped for next year’s much deeper draft.

Not turning any of these picks into 2027 picks was a mistake.

SethSchwartz is a big fan of the two defenders from the state of Texas.

I like Jacob Rodriguez and Michael Taaffe. Two defenders who play with more size and speed than they actually have. I work at the University of Texas and I’ve watched Taaffe play for 3 years. He’s a great addition for the Dolphins.

Dolphster feels like we took the solid blocker far too early.

The real head scratcher for me is Kacmarek in the 3rd round. I understand wanting to draft a blocking TE, however I think the 3rd round was a reach. Specifically for Kacmarek who wasn’t even on my draft radar at all and I think he would have been there in the 5th, 6th, or even 7th round.

SuperG!, unlike Dolphster, is a big fan of the Kaemarek pick but thinks that the front office wasted an early pick on the wideout from TT who could have been taken much later.

I’ll make 1 conventional and 1 unconventional choice. For my unconventional choice, I’ll pick Kacmarek as my favorite. I initially hated the pick but the more I learned about him and after Sully’s presser last night, I’m stoked to see this guy just be a total bully on the field. For my conventional choice I’m going with Douglas as the worst pick given it was an egregious overreach. And by egregious I’m talking 3 to 4 rounds too early. Sully could have easily gambled on taking him in the 4th or 5th round and he would have still been there.

Molly Polly II had some preferred players who were passed on, but is happy with the class.

LETS GOOOOO FINZNATION!!Am giving all cred to the GM n staff! My vote none for worst and the best is Johnson (and Bell and Taffe and Rodriguez).🤪 Am not getting the TEs but wth, am assuming there’s a plan just like the rest. Tho there were other players (Bain, McCoy) I would prefer, I like what I see. It appears the GM has utmost confidence in coaching staff to elevate the game in all of them (a coaching element missing from Finz organization for a very long time). I like Llewellyn to be a huge 7th rd Cinderella story!! 🐬🐬🐬

Blackhawk7 would have liked the team to take a look at a good punter.

Dolphins need a punter with strong leg that can pin teams deep

bluebull53 believes that Pornstash will take Rodriguez far.

I like the Longhorn guys picked. Rodriguez is a bit undersized but with that Tom Selleck mustache, he’s got to be good.

Only time will tell if any of the picks will materialize or not. Sullivan better hope they materialize or he will never hear the end of it…

Bull Pupp likes an UDFA who entered the week with a draftable grade, making him steal.

I really like this UDFA Edge from Wisconsin Mason Reiger

Google in this article — Mason Reiger’s NFL Combine Performance Finished Top 5 in 3 Different Drills — he ranks in testing with the best in these 5 events and is a large edge.

Key Measurements & Testing (2026 NFL Combine/Pro Day):

  • Height: 6’5″
  • Weight: 251 lbs
  • Arm Length: 32 ⅝”
  • Hand Size: 10 ⅜”
  • Vertical Jump: 40″ (96th percentile)
  • Broad Jump: 125″ (89th percentile)
  • 40-Yard Dash: 4.78s

MiamiItaliano is hoping that lightning strikes twice with picking an undersized LB from Texas Tech and is not sold on Douglas at all.

Best pick – Jacob Rodriguez, he could be the next Zach Thomas. Hard working Texas Tech guy just like Zach was back in the day.

Worst pick – Caleb Douglas, he gets pushed around easy and drops way too many passes. I don’t think he lasts long in the NFL. But I hope he proves us wrong.

PlatipusReturns believes that Proctor will only ever play guard at this level.

I do not think Proctor will succeed at Tackle in the NFL. I think he will need to slide into Guard, where his sheer strength might make him an all-pro.

tvegas897 is not happy with passing on some guys and the pass rush not being addressed.

Passing on Downs and Douglas by far. And two TE’s? Huh? Also going to be interesting to see where the pass rush comes from this year. Or if there is one. Nobody in this draft will help that much.

coluccim loves the first round CB but is not thrilled with the second round LB.

Best – johnson

Worst – Rodriguez

Dolphinsfan2021 says this draft class lacks any level of wow factor.

Overall none of the players have any wow factor or draw much interest to follow the team to be honest. Hopefully they will be good building blocks and can at least be solid starters eventually. Clearly was a rookie GM doing the picks. Some head scratchers some good picks, some missed opportunities some good finds later on. I like the Johnson pick the best the CBs for Dolphins for last 5 years have been an injured mess every year. I would have liked to have seen another CB taken. TE in third round is my least favorite pick. Could have waited until maybe 5 th round not sure, but maybe at least 4th since seemed like so many TE were getting picked this year. Instead of Bell there were still other top WRs there who were not injured. Unknown when he will play and how he will be once he gets back. GM thinks he has time to build roster but he has just one more draft in my opinion. After that they need to start winning.

finfanfromsiam gives the whole thing an A+ just because Grier was not doing the picking.

Grier wasn’t picking……A+!!

That’s our random 15 comments for this evening. If you missed the initial post and would like to see the rest of the discussion, you can catch it all HERE. It seems that the fan base, barring a couple of questionable picks, is fairly happy with this year’s draft class. Like with any year’s draft, time will tell who was right and who was wrong. As always thank you to each of you who took the time to join in on our question of the day post.
