Good morning. I fully intended to use today’s newsletter to remind everyone to keep their heads on a swivel, you know, with it being April Fools’ Day and all. You never know what garbage you might come across on the interwebs.
Sure enough, the “jokes” are flying. We’ve already seen a Carmelo Anthony unretirement, the reveal of a new James Bond, the Mavericks fire Jason Kidd and the creation of the blasphemously named Ohio Wolverines. A new fool is being made every minute. Don’t be one of them.
But before I could even finish forming that warning in my head, it hit me. This is actually our new reality. Nothing about today should be unfamiliar, because in 2026, the internet is flooded with false information. From playful satirical accounts to bots and bad actors with malicious intent to artificial intelligence deepfakes to actual news sources with far-leaning political agendas. Heck, even from the politicians themselves. People should be used to vetting everything they come across online.
Every day is April Fools’ Day on here.
In fact, these days, April Fools’ Day might actually be the safest day on the internet. Because people will be more inclined to assume something is not true, rather than the other way around. Which is my recommended approach every day. Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see. Go about it that way, and you’ll never be made the fool.
JB Bickerstaff addresses Jaden Ivey situation
More information has surfaced about Jaden Ivey since he was waived by the Chicago Bulls for a series of social media videos where he made anti-gay comments, including one tidbit from the Chicago Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley about Ivey’s history in Detroit as a “preacher.”
After their game Tuesday, Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff addressed Ivey and hinted at personal turmoil potentially playing a factor in his recent decisions.
“Having built a relationship with J.I., and feeling like you know his character and his heart, is one thing.”

“For him to go through what he’s gone through I know has been extremely difficult for him, as far as the way he was playing, the injuries, trying to make the comeback and trying to overcome that. So I don’t think we can overlook the human aspect of all these things and how that impacts people and their decisions.”
Ivey’s own traumas don’t give him a right to hurt other people, but it is worth considering if he’s in a good headspace. Unfortunately, he’s amassing a following of people who don’t care nearly as much about his well-being as his rhetoric.
