Some of the newest members of the Tennessee Titans met with the media through a virtual session on Wednesday, and as one would expect it was full of surprises.
One of those who took part in the event was new defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers, who opened up on reuniting with head coach Robert Saleh, his role in the defense, and even playing next to Jeffery Simmons.
“Coach Saleh is one of the best coaches I’ve had, he’s a leader of men. He knows how to relate to players.” Franklin-Myers said, “He never puts anybody in a box. That’s the beautiful thing about Saleh. He’s able to get us mismatches and put us in position to win.”

Says his superpower is that he can play everywhere on the defensive line; believes Saleh will allow him to do that

One of the big takeaways was the fact that Franklin-Myers believes he can play all over the defensive line in Saleh’s system, something that has been overlooked during the free agency period when discussions come up on the Titans edge situation. Franklin-Myers has experience outside in this system, and could rotate into a big-edge role with the ability to slide inside on passing downs.
While this may not be optimum, combining Franklin-Myers with Simmons along the interior would be a nightmare for offensive lines, but it is another option that should provide Mike Borgonzi some flexibility in the draft.
