Liverpool will seek to build bridges with their Anfield public as they seek a Champions League comeback against Galatasaray.

Last week’s 1-0 defeat in Istanbul left Arne Slot’s side needing the sort of rousing European night that has almost become a cliché on Merseyside.

But the Reds have only won one of their past four games in all competitions and were booed on their own ground after Sunday’s wretched 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

Galatasaray also beat the reigning Premier League champions during this season’s league phase but almost threw away a handsome 5-2 first-leg advantage against Juventus in the playoff round, eventually prevailing in extra time against 10 men in Turin.

Wirtz misses a glorious chance!

Ekitike dribbles into the box, the ball breaks to Wirtz and the Germany star’s effort is deflected over. He should really have scored. From the resulting corner, Mac Allister nods against the bar but is penalised for a foul on the goalkeeper.

Szoboszlai levels the tie!

It’s that man again for Liverpool. Szoboszlai nets his 12th of the season and fifth in the Champions League. Alexis Mac Allister drills a low corner towards Szoboszlai, who steers home coolly with left foot from abotu 12 yards. Beautifully executed.
