Recap

1st Inning

Jazzy Francik only allowed a lead off walk, but kept the run from scoring as she got her first two strikeouts of the day.

In the bottom of the inning, Isa Torres was hit by pitch from Julianna Verni. A single from Jaysoni Beachum and ground out had two runners in scoring position for the Seminoles. A fielder’s choice had everyone safe, and scored Torres.

Now with a run on the board, a walk to Ashtyn Danley loaded the bases. With nowhere to put Anna Hinde, she singled to bring in one more run.

Still with the bases loaded, but now two outs, Verni gave up another RBI single. The hit from Makenna Sturigs made it 3-0 in favor of the ‘Noles.

3rd Inning

Another lead off walk from Francik got to second on a sacrifice bunt. With a runner on second, a fielding error by first base allowed the runner to score, making it 3-1.

In the bottom of the inning, FSU had the bases juiced quickly, after a walk and a pair of singles. Off the bench, Shelby McKenzie got the run back on a sacrifice fly. A second sacrifice fly from Beachum made it 5-2.

4th Inning

With two outs on the board in the bottom of the inning, Danley was hit by a pitch and put on base. A runner on, Hayley Griggs sent a two run shot off of Verni. The homerun took Verni out of the game, replacing her with Jackie Pengle. Pengle gave up back to back walks, ending her day early as well.

As the third pitcher of the inning, Sydney Jackson walked the bases loaded. With nowhere to put Torres, a bloop double brought in two more runs, making it 9-1. However, it did not end there as Beachum had a 3 run homerun to put the ‘Noles up big.

5th Inning

Marlee Gaskell relieved Francik in the 5th, now looking to close out a run rule win. Gaskell walked the bases loaded with no outs. Following three straight walks, the freshman had a strikeout, fly out and ground out to get herself out of the jam.
