Northern Ireland winger Caragh Hamilton said the side are a “tight knit group” ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Turkey at Mourneview Park (19:00 GMT).
NI were defeated by top seeds Switzerland 2-0 in their opening game of the campaign, while Turkey’s qualifiers began with a 3-0 win at home against Malta.
Now interim manager Kris Lindsay will take charge of his second game and try end the side’s five game run without a win.
“We are confident going into any game, no matter where it is and who the opponent is. We are confident in our own game plan and in our own preparation,” Hamilton told BBC Sport NI.
“We have a squad that has been together for a long time now. We are settled, we know each other well and we know what we are good at.
“We are a tight knit together group. We have built some strong connections, we just need to focus on the game plan and what we are good at and we’ll take on anyone.”
There were plenty of positives from a defensive point of view following Northern Ireland’s match against Switzerland.
However, the result means that the side sit third in Group B2, as they aim to qualify for their first World Cup.
“Going away to the top seeds in the group is always a difficult start,” Hamilton continued.
“The desire to defend our box and the desire to fight for one another was excellent and they are the parts of the performance that we are very, very proud of and what we want to take into the next game as the foundation.
“The goals, I think they were fortunate in the way it falls [for the first goal]. I don’t think there was much we can pick out of that. The final goal is late into injury time and a moment of quality from them. Outside of that, there was nothing in it.”
