UFC 324 bantamweight Cameron Smotherman took a terrifying fall Friday morning moments after making weight for his scheduled bout against Ricky Turcios. As a result, Smotherman’s fight was immediately cancelled and the 28-year-old American was swiftly transported to the hospital.

Smotherman weighed in at 135.5 pounds for the bantamweight bout then staggered off the scale and made it only six steps before collapsing and crashing face-first onto the stage floor, seemingly unconscious. Smotherman appeared to convulse for several seconds before being flipped onto his back and attended to by Nevada commission officials and his team.

Video of the scary incident can be seen below.

Smotherman’s medical status is currently unclear.

Smotherman (12-6) was coming into the weekend having lost back-to-back UFC bouts against Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simón in 2025. He won his Octagon debut in October 2024, earning a unanimous decision against Jake Hadley.

With Smotherman vs. Turcios cancelled, UFC 324 will now proceed forward as a 12-fight card. The event, which takes place Saturday at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, marks the beginning of UFC’s new $7.7 billion broadcast relationship with Paramount.
