The New York Giants found their next head coach, and it instantly improved their chances of having a solid season in 2026.
John Harbaugh was one of the longest-tenured coaches in the league before he was fired by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent 18 years as their head coach, but the two sides felt it was time for a change. Harbaugh was highly sought after throughout the league, with many teams scheduling interviews in the hopes of bringing him to their side.
The Giants won the Harbaugh lottery, though, and while it gives them an instant boost, Craig Carton has a different opinion than the rest of the league.
JOHN HARBAUGH IS NOT GOING TO WIN YOU A SUPER BOWL!
“The NFL has bent over backwards showing how much they love Harbaugh… like he’s the second coming of Lombardi, like he’s Jimmy Johnson in his prime! He’s NOT! You have Lamar freaking Jackson, and you went to one AFC… pic.twitter.com/ZYGv49ZAYs

First, Carton discusses how much the NFL loves John Harbaugh and how he’s treated like royalty.
“He’s not. He never was. I’ve made the argument for a couple years now, and I’d be laughed at every time I said it — until a few weeks ago when people started to agree — that John Harbaugh is the problem in Baltimore, not the solution,” Carton said.
Carton goes on to say that the Ravens had Lamar Jackson and only went to one AFC Championship game at home, which they lost. But before Jackson was there, Harbaugh had Joe Flacco for 11 seasons. They made the playoffs in seven of those seasons, including a Super Bowl win, something Carton makes no mention of in his rant.
After saying that Harbaugh is competent and he will make the Giants a better team, Carton quickly credited the players for his success and warned that he won’t win Big Blue a title.
“It was Ray [Lewis]. It was, you know, on and on — some of the great defensive players that have ever played this sport. And for some reason, we have sainted John Harbaugh as a $20 million a year coach, and he doesn’t have the pedigree to back it up,” he said. “So is he competent? Yes. Will he make the Giants or Titans better? Yes. Is he gonna get you to a Super Bowl? No.”
The Giants would welcome a winning season, they’d love a trip to the playoffs, and winning in the postseason is the ultimate goal. But the first thing they have to do is win games, and Harbaugh will make that happen.
