At 16 years, 1 month and 27 days old, Filip Pavic made his senior debut for FC Bayern Munich as they crushed Atalanta 4-1 in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday.
In doing so, Pavic became the youngest player ever to feature for Bayern in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Lennart Karl, who turned 18 last month, also made history by becoming the youngest German – and Bayern player – to both score and assist in a single Champions League match.
Alongside Pavic, 18-year-old Deniz Ofli also made his professional debut on the night. His standout moment came shortly after coming on, when he won possession and initiated the move that led to Bayern’s third goal.
Board member for sport Max Eberl praised both debutants after the match, saying:
“Both of them fit in really well; there was no noticeable drop in quality.”
